eaurganic Vegan products

July 17th, 2010

This week eaurganic products have been featured on Alicia Silverstone’s website the Kind Life dot com as their sponsor. The website is a community based supporting vegetarianism made by Vegan for people who are interested in becoming vegan or already are one. They are supporting each other through different topic discussions.

We should say we had a quite challenging experience with this sponsorship because at first, some people got this idea that we don’t have any products that are suited for vegan but then that had been explained and understood. This was due to a natural preservative that we use in our products instead of conventional preservatives. We preserve our products with anti-oxidants like Lactoperoxidase which is active enzyme in milk. This will grow on a bed of sugar in presence of Oxygen and consuming that to function. When the package is closed, it will deactivate as soon as consumed all Oxygen trapped in the jar. Also Lactoperoxidase is naturally created by Mother Nature in our saliva and tears to protect our body from the bacteria and any harmful free radicals.

This is the most expensive and healthiest way to preserve our product without usage of any hazardous chemicals.

With this has been said here is the list of our products that ARE VEGAN which happen to be CERTIFIED ORGANIC, as well as, free of synthetic preservatives, SLS, Parabens, perfume or colour:

As you can see on our website we post every single one of our ingredients (nothing to hide) so you are all very welcome to come and check it out and also let us know your thoughts.

We also belong to a dedicated, passionate and vocal community, the organic community which is much like the vegan community in commitment to principles before profit.

Please don’t hesitate to ask any question you might have before judging us or put your comment on this topic.

Be well and in peace

Monumental report from the President’s Cancer Panel – From OTA

May 6th, 2010

This is a monumental news day for the organic industry. The President’s Cancer Panel Report released today exhorts consumers to choose food grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers, antibiotics, and growth hormones to help decrease their exposure to environmental chemicals that can increase their risk of contracting cancer!

“Exposure to pesticides can be decreased by choosing, to the extent possible, food grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers…Similarly, exposure to antibiotics, growth hormones, and toxic run-off from livestock feed lots can be minimized by eating free-range meat raised without these medications,” according to the report, “Reducing Environmental Cancer Risk: What We Can Do Now,” submitted to President Obama by Dr. LaSalle Leffall, Jr., an oncologist and professor of surgery at Howard University, and Dr. Margaret L. Kripke, an immunologist at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

In a letter to President Obama, the panel stated “The American people—even before they are born—are bombarded continually with myriad combinations of these dangerous exposures. The Panel urges you most strongly to use the power of your office to remove the carcinogens and other toxins from our food, water, and air that needlessly increase health care costs, cripple our Nation’s productivity, and devastate American lives.”

This landmark report by the prestigious scientific panel recognizes, at the highest level, what your products provide — essentially endorsing our industry. OTA has issued a press release to tout the panel report and is exposing the organic connection through all media channels.

The full report is here.

Let’s talk about Parabens

May 1st, 2010

Parabens are effective and one of the cheapest preservatives that are widely used for their bactericidal and fungicidal properties in many products such as shampoos, moisturizers, shaving gels, toothpaste, baby products, washing detergents, foods, drugs and etc…. just to name a few.

Parabens are esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. The most common parabens used in cosmetic products are methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben.

In 2004, The Journal of Applied Toxicology published a paper by Dr. Phillipa Darbre et al. titled “Concentrations of Parabens in Human Breast Tumours”. Dr. Darbre is a professor of Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Reading in England.

For the study in question, tissue samples were taken from patients undergoing surgery for breast cancer. The samples were analyzed for the presence of parabens. At least one type of paraben was detected in 19 out of 20 tumors.

The initial study design was to include non-cancerous comparison tissue to determine whether paraben levels were significantly different from those found in the cancerous breast tissue. The authors expected to find no parabens in the non-cancerous tissue.

When they did find parabens, they concluded that their equipment had been contaminated by paraben-containing soaps used in the lab. It is curious to me that they didn’t also question the possibility that the cancerous tissue samples had been contaminated in the same way.

This is a very preliminary study. The sample size was small. There was no information gathered on the patients whatsoever: the stage of their cancers; their ages; lifestyles; their frequency and type of paraben use. There were no (usable) control samples that the cancerous tissue samples could be compared to.

In Dr. Darbre’s own words, “These studies demonstrate that parabens can be found intact in the human breast and this should open the way technically for more detailed information to be obtained on body burdens of parabens and in particular whether body burdens are different in cancer from those in normal tissues.”

In conclusion always read the ingredients listed on the labels and make sure they don’t have Parabens and look for a seal of Certified Organic.

Our products are Certified Organic and are Parabens free.

Organic Certification and Labeling of Cosmetics and Personal Care Products

Organic labeling on personal care products has been a divisive issue within the organic food industry for many years. At the core of the debate lies the question of whether the scope of the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 (OFPA) and the National Organic Program (NOP) regulations extends to the certification of personal care products.

In November 2009, the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) recommended that the Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulate organic labeling of personal care products (the recommendation was approved by a vote of 12 to 1). Specifically, the recommendation requested that NOP develop a single national standard for personal care products.Underpinning that recommendation was concern that the array of private standards obscured the requirements for organic claims for both manufacturers and consumers.

eaurganic’s new look features a distinctive  turquoise palette symbolizing water and the purity of eaurganic’s formulations,  highlighted by subtle stylized floral designs inspired by the herbal and floral extracts and other certified organic ingredients which make up at least 95% of the products in the line.

While eaurganic products are toxins-free and extremely gentle and safe for even the most sensitive skins, in response to concerns regarding the possible connection between phytoestrogens contained in some natural cosmetic ingredients and the recurrence of breast cancer, d’Avicenna has also reformulated its products to ensure their absolute safety.

“The scientific research in the connection between phyto-estrogens and breast cancer is not conclusive,” says Kalantari, “however we are at the forefront of natural cosmetic formulation and are always on top all the latest developments and we decided to err on the side of caution to ensure consumer safety.”

All eaurganic products are tested by dermatologists for irritation and they are not tested on animals.
